HANDS OF FRIENDSHIP QUILT GUILD
MINUTES

JULY 20, 2016 

The Hands of Friendship Quilt Guild met at the Adair County Annex, Kirksville, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. President Andrea O’Brien called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Roll Call was answered by 23 members. Some members were attending the NEMO Fair.

The minutes were approved as sent out via email and the postal service. Joan Harrison circulated the Treasurer’s Report for July 20, 2016, a report of the Estimated Income and Expenses for the Fiscal Year July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017, and a year-end report for July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. All were approved on a motion by Gyla Elmore and a second by Linda Kowalski.

 

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS:

The Executive Committee met July 13. A bill for the Guild shirts was paid in total to The Stitching Post. In the future, new members are to go to The Stitching Post and pay the total amount for their shirt, with the Guild then reimbursing them in the amount of $15.

Elsie Gaber suggested members who have extra greeting cards could donate them to the Courtesy Committee to be used for members. Cards that are used the most include “Get Well,”“Sympathy,” and “Thinking of You.”

Logistics Committee is a new Committee and includes picking up and returning a key for the Annex Building, set up, etc. All committees will be voted on at the August meeting.

Barb Bevell asked for ideas to use felt pieces, including some large pieces, which were in a box in the storage unit. After discussion, it was suggested that the box go back in the storage unit at this time.

UFO Challenge: Reminder: August is the last month for the UFO Challenge.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Courtesy Committee: Gloria Davis reported that Carol Snider is back home, using her arm, and walking her dog.

Community Service: Rose Marie Smith reported 7 quilts have been donated to Lifeline Pregnancy and 10 were donated to Victim Support Services.

Historian: Elsie Gaber reported Carol Snider and Kathy East have given all the books, etc. related to this committee to her. Many of the scrapbooks were displayed tonight.

2017 Quilt Show: Everyone needs to serve on some committee for the Quilt Show.

Program Committee: Elsie presented a new concept for program presentations. Each of the 12 committees will have one month when they are responsible for the program or getting someone to present the program.

Newsletter/Blog: Barb Bevell asked that anyone having difficulty getting on our blog or Facebook page contact her and she will walk you through the process.

Challenge Committee: The Challenge quilts need to be completed by the September 2016 meeting. These quilts are to be quilted prior to this meeting and they will then be entered in the 2017 Quilt Show in their own category.

Quilt ‘Til U Wilt Committee: There was no report.
