The Hands of Friendship Quilt Guild honors veterans from our community each year with a beautiful, hand-made quilt. The presentation occurred on Saturday afternoon. We had a great turn out. We are blessed to honor those who served our country. Thank you.

The Hands of Friendship Quilt Guild has recently begun to partner with the Kirksville Arts Association. This partnership will provide us with a closer working relationship with the KV Arts and allow more community exposure to what we do through quilt education. We currently meet in their temporary space on south Baltimore, in Kirksville.
This partnership was mentioned in the December MOSAIC News & Notes.
Also featured in the newsletter, was the “2nd Weekend of Quilting” class, co-taught by Alice Allinson and Andrea O’Brien, on October 6, 2018. Alice and Andi led twelve women through the proper cutting, pressing, and piecing techniques for the “Double Churn Dash” block, by Missouri Star Quilt Company.
Alice and Andi’s next “confident beginner” quilting class will be May 4, 2019 at the Arts Association Building. This will be geared toward the quilters from the October class, but also suitable for others who wish to learn about quilting.
For our Christmas Party, we have been asked to bring a pillowcase to donate.
This is just one example of the Burrito Style Pillowcase. It was published by the American Patchwork & Quilting and used in their 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge.

Saturday’s “Day of Love” (Community Service/Quilt ’til You Wilt) was a big success. Many projects were completed and other projects made great progress. There was a Veteran’s Presentation on Saturday, too.
A big thanks to Elsie for organizing the service day, to the Anonymous Donor(s) who gave the fabric, and to all who helped at Friday night’s set-up and/or Saturday’s event.
