Hi, it’s Judy Austic, I am a former member of the guild. My daughter has a beautiful oak quilt wall hanger for sale. It’s about 72in. If anyone’s interested, let me know and I’ll put them in contact.

I am new to kirksville and plan to attend the July meeting. Is there a program or a show & tell that I need to prepare for?

    • Debra,

We meet at the Adair County Annex each month on the 3rd Wednesday at 6:30 pm. The Adair County Annex is at 300 N. Franklin Street. We would love to have you join us! This month the attendance will be light because it is during the NEMO Regional Fair, but come anyway and meet those that are there!

At the July meeting it was mentioned that we will be giving tips on how to photograph and document your quilts (august meeting?)
I have 2 JTL quilt stands for photographing quilts. I would be happy to bring them if it would be helpful.

We cordially invite you and the guild to our SECOND ANNUAL SALT RIVER QUILT SHOW

The Monroe County Historical Society is hosting its second Salt River Quilt Show the weekend of October 14th and 15th, 2017. The show will be held at the Mark Twain Memorial Shrine in Florida, Missouri. The purpose of the event is to showcase the talents of quilters in the Salt River and adjoining areas. The Historical Society will also welcome quilts from quilters throughout the state. The theme of the show will be “One Hundred Years of Missouri State Parks.” Other categories include baby and children’s quilts and seasonal and holiday quilts, but quilts of all kinds will be welcomed. There will be an entry fee of $5.00 a quilt, used to cover quilt show costs and prizes.
Three different presentations will be given on each day of the show. Hallye Bone, a quilt specialist from St. Louis, will speak at 10:00 a.m. each day on the care and preservation of quilts. She will also be available each day to do quilt consultations and quilt appraisals. Karen Seward will present a program on the quilts of WWI each day at noon as 2017 is also the centennial of America’s entry into WWI. A third presentation on the Missouri State Parks Centennial will be given at various times throughout each of the days.
A food vendor will be available each day and plenty of picnic tables to use. If you wish to sell items related to quilting or crafts at the show, please contact Marianne Bodine at the Memorial Shrine for table space. The talented Jenny Kuntemeyer of Palmyra, MO, will be back again this year to sell her barn quilts.
Deadline for submitting quilt entry forms will be Monday, October 9th. Quilts must be dropped off Thursday, October 12th for hanging, and will be judged on Friday, October 13th. Prizes will be awarded in all categories. The show will be open Saturday, October 14th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Quilts may be picked up at 4 p.m. on the 15th. For other arrangements, contact the Historical Society at 660-327-1831 or the Memorial Shrine. For information, quilt entry forms, or vendor applications, or to schedule a quilt consultation or appraisal, contact Verna Spangler at 573-470-7154 or Marianne Bodine at 573-565-3449. Email questions may be sent to Marianne.bodine@dnr.mo.gov.
Entry to the quilt show is free of charge, but donations will be accepted to assist the Monroe County Historical Society with its work in preserving the history of the county.
