The Hands of Friendship Quilt Guild honors veterans from our community each year with a beautiful, hand-made quilt. The presentation occurred on Saturday afternoon. We had a great turn out. We are blessed to honor those who served our country. Thank you.

Saturday’s “Day of Love” (Community Service/Quilt ’til You Wilt) was a big success. Many projects were completed and other projects made great progress. There was a Veteran’s Presentation on Saturday, too.
A big thanks to Elsie for organizing the service day, to the Anonymous Donor(s) who gave the fabric, and to all who helped at Friday night’s set-up and/or Saturday’s event.
Here are some of the photos:
The Community Service committee, under the direction of Renae Farnsworth, presented many beautiful quilts to veterans in the northeast Missouri area. Some of the photos of the presentations are shown below.
On November 11, 2014, several members of the Hands of Friendship Quilt Guild met to deliver quilts that had been made for veterans. A list of veterans in our local area was collected, and personal visits to homes, businesses, and local restaurants were made to find and deliver these quilts. The recipients were not informed ahead of time, and all were personally and visibly touched. Most of these veterans had recently returned from Afghanistan, or had served in Qatar, Iraq, or other locations. The men said how much they loved quilts, and how thankful they were for the thoughts and kindnesses.
A thank you to all the members who were involved in making these beautiful quilts, quilting them, and delivering them. This is a very special and valuable service that our guild members are involved in each year. This service has been an ongoing project since 2009.
